Ingredients

  • 2 slices ham
  • ¼ onion
  • 1 tomato
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
  • 1 ½ ounce cheddar cheese, shredded (42 g)
  • 2 slices bread, whole wheat

Preparing this recipe

  1. Dice the ham, onion and tomato into small pieces.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, beat the eggs with a fork or whisk until they are well mixed. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Heat the oil in a frying pan and sauté the ham for 1-2 minutes until it browns. Add the onion and cook for 1-2 minutes. Then add the tomato and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs to the pan. Sprinkle the cheese on top. Fold the omelet in half when the bottom is golden brown. Let it cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts and the eggs are cooked.
  5. Slide the omelet onto a plate and serve hot.
  6. While the omelet is cooking, toast the bread until golden brown.
  7. Serve the ham and cheese omelet hot with the (toasted) bread on the side.

1. Delicious with a handful of fresh spinach.
2. Sprinkle the omelet with a pinch of paprika or chili flakes for an extra kick.
