Healthy turkey burger with avocado spread

Ingredients

  • ¼ onion
  • 1 clove garlic (5 g)
  • 1 tomato
  • ½ cucumber
  • 5 ounces 99% lean ground turkey breast (140 g)
  • 1 ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning (3 g)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
  • 1 bun, whole wheat
  • ½ avocado
  • 1 handful mixed salad (30 g)
  • 2 teaspoons Sriracha sauce (10 ml)

Preparing this recipe

  1. Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic. Slice the tomato into thin rounds and the cucumber into quarters.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the ground turkey, onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Shape the mixture into a patty.
  3. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the turkey patty for 4-5 minutes per side, until cooked through and browned.
  4. Toast the bun, if desired.
  5. Mash the avocado with a fork and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Spread the mashed avocado on the bottom half of the bun. Place the cooked turkey patty on top and add the lettuce, tomato slices and Sriracha sauce.
  7. Cover with the top half of the bun.
  8. Make a salad from the remaining lettuce, tomato, cucumber and onion and serve alongside the burger.
