Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic (5 g)
- ½ onion
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 avocado
- 5 ounces 96% lean ground beef (140 g)
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard (7 g)
- 1 ½ teaspoon paprika (ground spice) (3 g)
- 2 slices bacon
- ½ tablespoon olive oil (8 ml)
- 1 ounce cheddar cheese, shredded (28 g)
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (15 ml)
- 1 bun, whole wheat
- 2 handfuls iceberg lettuce, shredded (60 g)
Preparing this recipe
- Mince the garlic clove, slice the onion into thin half-rings and cut the tomatoes into slices. Slice the avocado.
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef with half of the garlic, mustard, half of the paprika and some salt and pepper. Knead well and form a burger patty with your hands.
- Heat a frying pan and cook the bacon slices on both sides for 2 minutes until crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside on a plate.
- Then heat the oil in the frying pan and place the burger in the pan. Place the onion half-rings around it. Cook the burger until done and golden brown, about 4 minutes per side and cook the onions alongside, stirring regularly until they are soft. In the last minute, sprinkle the cheddar over the burger and cover the pan with a lid to let it melt.
- In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise with the remaining garlic and paprika to make a sauce.
- Cut the bun in half. Spread the mayonnaise on the cut side of the bottom half. Place some lettuce on top, followed by the burger, bacon, onion, half of the tomato and half of the avocado. Cover with the other half of the bun.
- Serve the burger on a plate and make a salad with the remaining lettuce, tomato and avocado to serve on the side.
Tip van FitChef
1. It's delicious to toast the bun for a bit.
2. You can also use whole romaine lettuce leaves.
